Quote from a recent volunteer (Mike Burren from Switzerland) " Title: A fantastic time at Whipstone Farm. I spent almost 5 weeks on Whipstone Farm in Spring 2008. It was my first stay as a WWOOF-er ever and I don't regret at all that I have chosen Whipstone Farm as my place to stay.
Cory and Shanti are such great hosts. The kitchen is excellent and you better like hot food. Cory's homemade hot sauce is excellent and Shanti's bread tastes great. The work on the farm is very varied and interesting. You can profit a lot from their knowledge and learn a lot about organic farming and even other topics. I can warmly recommend Whipstone Farm!"
Whipstone Farm accepts volunteers - season long interns, short term volunteers through Wwoof and Organic Volunteers as well as local folks who want to come and experience a little farm work.
Season-long internships:
Our growing season is from March - October and we would like apprentices to stay for this entire season. We have several rooms available in our house and a private RV that can fit two. We provide lots of vegetables and meat raised on the farm, as well as other staples and many local items that we barter for. We love to cook and interns are welcome to eat with the family or cook on their own. Forty hours per week of work is expected in exchange for room and board and a stipend. Please send a letter of interest, resume and references to shanti@whipstone.com
Wwoof and Organic Volunteers:
We are registered as a host farm with both WWOOF (worldwide workers on organic farms) www.wwoof-usa.org and Organic Volunteers www.organicvolunteers.org We provide room and board in exchange for 40 hours per week of work. There is a two week minimum stay, which we have found is the time needed for volunteers to become acquainted with the farm and really get some work done. You will learn about all aspects of the farm and have time off to explore the beautiful Southwest region. If you are interested in seeing reviews from past volunteers, please visit www.organicvolunteers.org and search for whipstone farm. Please contact us for space availability, the sooner you make your request and finalize dates, the better the likelihood we can accommodate you.
All other volunteers:
If you are interested in getting away from town, consider a day at the farm. Enjoy the sunshine and the good feeling of digging your hands into the dirt. Think of it as excersize, but so much more enjoyable than going to the gym and free too. Please contact us by phone (928)636-6209 or email shanti@whipstone.com to see about scheduling and details.
